Psychoeducational Evaluation

Sometimes children and adolescents can be confronted with academic or behavioral difficulties at school. It is often useful for these children to have a psychoeducational evaluation in order to more precisely determine the reasons for these difficulties. Testing can include a test of cognitive abilities (IQ), questionnaires for parents and teachers to determine how the child behaves in school and at home, and more specific neuropsychological tests to learn more about the exact nature of the problem (for example, tests for dyslexia, dyspraxia, visual motor issues, attentional problems). The evaluator might find it useful to test academic level with objective tests and to contact teachers. This testing always produces a detailed report with specific recommendations for teachers and parents. Part of this process might also include consultation about school choices.
