Sexual Abuse

Sexual abuse is a widespread, though underreported phenomenon effecting men and women as well as children. Perpetrators, especially of children, are usually known to the victim. Long and short term consequences are physical, psychological and social including chronic pain, depression, anxiety as well as substance abuse and social isolation.
Psychotherapy has proven effective in helping reduce symptoms as well as in restoring fundamental beliefs (in trust, safety and intimacy) violated by the experience of abuse.
